Low - temperature multi - effect distillation

The low-temperature multi-effect distillation method is a seawater desalination technology that uses steam to “boil” seawater. Part of the seawater evaporates to obtain clean steam, which then condenses into desalinated water, while the unevaporated seawater is concentrated into  concentrated brine. In the low-temperature multi-effect distillation method, at a relatively low temperature, the scaling and corrosion phenomena of seawater will be significantly reduced.

The numerous advantages of low – temperature multi – effect distillation and the effective utilization of low – temperature waste heat steam make its water production cost significantly competitive compare to the reverse osmosis process. Meanwhile this technology has advanteges such as low requiresments for raw water quality(SS<22mg/L),  good quality of produced water(TDS<6mg/L), and simple operation and management. Therefore the number of constructions is constantly rising. From the perspective of future development trends, the research on the low – temperature multi – effect distillation process will focus on technical fields such as the application of new inexpensive materials and the expansion of device scale, aming to further reduce equipment costs and operating expenses and enhance market competitveness.
